Teaching values

My goals for developing graduate students are threefold, namely

1) enabling students to compete successfully with peers from the best universities worldwide at a postgraduate level.

2) Make graduates attractive to national and international labour markets beyond academia, as jobs in academia are limited.

3) Provide the necessary tools that will enable them to translate their own knowledge into other areas.

I believe that the goal must be emancipation from a hierarchical professor-student relationship to a constructive cooperation among independent, exchanging and criticizing individuals while always having the taught material in mind.
